This is an exciting New Year for all of us here at St. Mary's Catholic Campus Ministry and for all of those who love and support our ministry. Over 2000 letters have reached our friends and benefactors seeking support for our Ministry and New Student Center. I send words of gratitude to those who have opened their arms and hearts to embrace this much needed project with their generous giving and to those who are discerning to be partners with us in this worthy endeavor. In order to move forward with this great mission, we have a Stewardship Council, Finance Council and Building Board working to ensure that we get this done and also an Alumni Task Force making every effort to raise funds.
Heart filled with hope, we are asking for support from our benefactors over the coming days, weeks and months for our mission to provide our students with special opportunities to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and to explore new ways to share His Light with others at SFA and with their families, their friends and the world- to let the opportunities that we provide help them to set the world on fire with love and authentic living to lead others to Jesus and to becoming His disciples. Our SFA students who come to us are our future leaders. It is my desire, along with our ministry team, to form them to go forth, with determination and courage, as torchbearers of faith in the world.
For now it is also a critical time in our society as we look around. The darkness of sin and death struggle for control and some are even ready to give up thinking it is too difficult to fight and some already feel lost. But we know there is a Light- “The Light shines in the darkness and darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5). We know and believe that Light is Jesus Christ ... that Jesus who has conquered sin and death and who is always ready to give us a new beginning in the light of His love.
So if we need a new beginning this year in any area of our life, let us allow Christ to make us new creations and the old will pass away! He will put a new and right spirit within us when we call on His name! This year, let us make our relationship with Him our number one priority. As we develop an intimacy with Him through daily prayer, the Holy Eucharist, Confession and the study of His Word, we will experience the joy of newness of life!
May God Bless Y'all Always!
