Dear Friends in Christ,
By the time you receive this newsletter, we have approached the Season of Lent.
Lent is a time of conversion and a time to deepen one's faith, demonstrating and sharing it through the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy.
According to our Holy Father, Pope Francis, in the Corporal Works of Mercy we touch the flesh of Christ in our brothers and sisters who need to be fed, clothed, sheltered, visited and in the Spiritual Works of Mercy- counsel, instruction, forgiveness, admonishment and prayer- we touch more directly our own sinfulness.
While we engage in Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy, let's be convinced that each and every one of us is in need of God's mercy. We've all made mistakes. We've all made wrong choices, but as believers in Jesus, that doesn't change our heritage. God doesn't kick us out of His kingdom because we're not perfect.
Maybe we feel that we don't deserve God's goodness, or we think that we should not endure our problems. But this is what mercy is all about. His mercy will renew and restore us! No matter what we may have done wrong, we are still the apple of God's eye. We are still His most prized possession. We can still access God's promises by faith.
Why don't we shake off the guilt and condemnation? Why don't we put our shoulders back and say, "I may not be perfect, but I am forgiven. I may have made mistakes, but God knows that in my heart I desire to please Him and I am changing my ways. Even though I may have brought this trouble on myself, I'm going to keep my faith in Him and trust Him to turn it around."?
Access His mercy today and let Him empower you to move forward in every area of your life and to be merciful to others, especially through Works of Mercy, both Spiritual and Corporal.
May God Bless Y'all Always:
