Welcome to St. Mary's and congratulations on your enrollment at Stephen F. Austin State University!
As chaplain at St. Mary's Catholic Campus Ministry, I am looking forward to meeting each of you personally soon as we begin another exciting school year. I hope the next year is rewarding and joyful for you as you enjoy fellowship with other students and as we journey together toward becoming greater disciples of Jesus Christ. Starting college often means moving away from your old high school friends, as well as your family. St. Mary's is a great place to get connected and make new friends for life! The best way to find out what exciting things are going on at St. Mary's is to visit our website www.sfacatholic.net.
We at St. Mary's are committed to providing opportunities for SFA students like yourself to enter into and grow in relationship with Christ, and to become His lifelong disciple. We offer a variety of programs to help you do so and to get involved in our ministry. Some ways you can get involved include:
Daily Mass and Reconciliation
Come to the Circle every Wednesday night at 5:45 (free dinner every week!)
Serve at Mass in any of our Liturgical Ministries, including as Altar Server, EM, Reader or a member of the Choir
Join one of our Student Organizations- Kappa Upsilon Sigma, Knights of Columbus or Dancers of the Son
Go to weekly Bible Study and get to know our Focus Missionaries
Go on a Retreat
If you are a Catholic student and have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist and Confirmation or if you are interested in exploring the Catholic Church (RCIA) we will be offering classes starting in August. Both of these classes will be at 7pm.
Our Chapel is open for prayer 24 hours a day. I also want to let you know I will always be available if you need to speak to me about any matter of concern to you or for Confession. If you need to contact me my phone number is 903-578-2277.
My staff and I are here for you and dedicated to making this a rewarding year for you – a year of spiritual growth in your relationship with Christ and a year of growth in your relationships with your fellow students. We care about you and want you to feel that this is your “home away from home”.
Please don't forget to fill out our information form on our website at www.sfacatholic.net/student-registration so we can keep in touch with you and let you know about any special activities going on.
Once again, welcome! I look forward to meeting you!
